As we age, our fertility naturally declines and hormone levels fall. But age isn’t the only factor when it comes to hormonal health; our lifestyle habits play a huge role in egg quality, womb health and hormonal balance. One of the main things we’re strongly encouraged to ditch as soon as possible is smoking. Puffing on cigarettes every day can cause all kinds of damage to our bodies – not least to our reproductive organs. But what about vaping?
Are the effects of vaping reversible in fertility?
Dr Sami Almusawa, Medical Director and leading fertility doctor at Plan Your Baby Fertility Clinic, says: “The sooner a woman quits, the better her chances of minimising vaping’s impact on fertility. However, if significant damage has occurred (eg to the ovarian reserve or through genetic damage to the eggs), some effects may not be fully reversible.” The degree of recovery, he says, depends on how long and how much you vaped. Dr Sami mentions in this article published by Stylist where Plan Your Baby has been featured.
At Plan Your Baby, we are proud to share insights on how lifestyle choices can influence reproductive health and contribute to the broader conversation on fertility.
